Set for fully automatic watering of up to 40 plants
The Tropf-Blumat 40 set for 10 metres is a standard set for 10 balcony boxes, but can also be used for watering other planters or individual plants in beds, small greenhouses or conservatories. It is connected to a tap or pump with a domestic waterworks.
Planning:
It is important to determine the required number of Tropf-Blumat devices and assign them accordingly. For balcony boxes, 4 drip points (Tropf-Blumat) per 100 cm box length (box width 20 cm) and 3 drip points for 80 cm lengths are calculated. As a general rule, each plant/pot receives 1 Tropf-Blumat – this applies to pots up to 20 cm in diameter; 2 Tropf-Blumat are sufficient for pots up to 40 cm, and 3 Tropf-Blumat for pots up to 50 cm. For plants in beds, 2 plants receive 1 Tropf-Blumat, provided that the distance between them is no greater than 20 cm; sometimes 1 Tropf-Blumat is sufficient for a group of 3 plants.
Hose system / Installation:
The principle is simple: the 8 mm supply hose is routed close to the plants over the pots or along the balcony box; at the point where a Tropf-Blumat is to be installed, the supply hose is cut and the T-piece is inserted. The Tropf-Blumat is connected to the T-piece with a 3 mm drip hose, which is routed to the plant. A maximum pressure of 1 bar is required for operation, which is why the pressure reducer is connected to the tap with a ¾ inch external thread – the reduction is fixed, and the inlet pressure should not exceed 6 bar. The supply hose can be laid as required; height differences can also be bridged, up to a maximum of 4-(6) m upwards and approx. 2-(3) m downwards, measured from the tap at the specified pressure. The tap must be open at all times for the system to operate. During normal operation, the pressure reducer can supply approx. 250 drip Blumat devices over a length of 60 m. It is important that the pressure reducer is stored frost-free during winter.
